Miroirs d'illusion | |

Several years ago I travelled to Monet's garden in Giverny. The starting point for this film, were the photographs I had taken of the famous water-lily pond, that featured in his late paintings, however, the title of my film refers to Maurice Ravel's suite of piano pieces: 'Miroirs' (mirrors). My music inhabits a similar sound world to Ravel's suite, without being as technically challenging for the pianist. The idea of impressionism in art and music is very appealing, fleeting glimpses of objects and musical ideas intertwined, small mirrors reflecting a wider emotional landscape. HOME
